
Every operator of a motor pool vehicle is responsible for understanding and adhering to ALL policies. Use of motor pool vehicles is a privilege that can be revoked. | |||||||||||

| Use Authorization | |||||||||||
Only authorized LSU AgCenter faculty, staff and students may operate a motor pool vehicle. Authorized drivers are those who have completed the Driver Safety Program and have had their driver's record checked. The vehicle may be used only for LSU AgCenter business. No one, other than faculty, staff and students on business or course work, may ride in LSU AgCenter vehicles unless special paperwork is submitted in advance.
Additional Guidelines:
The Extension Fleet is designated for use to conduct Regional and State Extension functions. Any other use including PARISH USE would need approval by LSU AgCenter administration prior to the reservation being requested. Request should be submitted to [email protected] for routing and approvals.

For Non-AgCenter Personnel riding in a state vehicle: A request must be submitted in writing to the office of Mr. Dwayne Nunez, Livestock Show Office (fax 225-578-4104). Once approval has been given, a Hold Harmless Agreement must be signed for each non-AgCenter person riding in the vehicle.

| Use of any type of tobacco product is strictly prohibited in all motor pool vehicles. | |||||||||||
| Requirements of Operator | |||||||||||
| All drivers of motor pool vehicles must possess a valid U.S. driver's license. | |||||||||||
| Responsibilities of Operator | |||||||||||
| The operator of the vehicle has, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities: | |||||||||||

| Cancellations | |||||||||||
Reservations should be cancelled at least 24 hours in advance. Cancellations can be made via the Motor Pool web site or by phone to the Livestock Show Office (225-578-2255). | |||||||||||
| Picking Up Vehicles | |||||||||||
| Keys can be picked up in 110 Livestock Show Office. | |||||||||||
| Returning Vehicles | |||||||||||
| Contact the motor pool office if returning the vehicle on time is a problem. | |||||||||||
| The returned vehicle should be free of trash or excessive debris. A $100 cleanup fee may be assessed if the vehicle is not cleaned out. | |||||||||||
Please make sure vehicle is locked and all lights are turned off. Return keys to 110 Livestock Show Office. If returning after hours, please lock the clipboard in the vehicle and return keys to the Key Box located under the barn by the door to the Livestock Show Office. | |||||||||||
| Road Repairs | |||||||||||
| Vehicles which develop mechanical problems while in the local area should be returned for replacement. In the event that it would be impractical to operate the vehicle, the Motor Pool should be contacted for assistance. While the Motor Pool strives to maintain its fleet of vehicles in the best possible condition, breakdowns do occur. The Motor Pool will make every effort to assist the customer during any breakdown situation to minimize loss time and inconvenience. | |||||||||||

| Accident Reporting | |||||||||||
| In the event of a vehicular accident, the driver will stop at once, give reasonable first aid to those injured, and will call the police. All information related to the accident and all drivers involved will be written down at the scene. All accidents, no matter how minor, will be reported as soon as possible to the Motor Pool office. An Accident Report must be completed. Accident Report forms are available at the Motor Pool office. | |||||||||||

| Insurance | |||||||||||
| All LSU AgCenter Motor Pool vehicles are insured under a State University insurance policy. This insurance covers damage to motor pool vehicles, liability for damage to other vehicles and property, and bodily injury to others from official use of a motor pool vehicle. | |||||||||||
The driver is personally responsible for all costs or damages for personal, illegal, or unauthorized use of LSU AgCenter Motor Pool vehicles. All trip insurance for student or non-university passengers is the responsibility of the department renting the vehicle. | |||||||||||
